Many keyboard books include harp glissandos that are triggered by playing a single note. The keyboard book may specify the tempo, but more commonly, we use reference recordings and our best judgment to determine each glissando’s tempo. Every production is a little different, though, and you may want to adjust a glissando’s tempo so it “lands” at the right time.
We use a commercial version of our free Harp Gliss Trigger script so changing the tempo is incredibly simple:
Open the Scripter plug-in
In Edit Mode, find the gliss channel strip in the Channel Strips panel. This is usually labeled “Hp Gl (Song.Measure)”. Click the “Scripter” button to open the Scripter window.
Change the tempo
Change the Tempo parameter to your desired tempo. Close the Scripter window and save your concert.
Although you probably won’t need to change them, clicking the “Show Advanced Settings” button shows many other gliss parameters that can be adjusted, including the velocity, range, and curve.
